[he steps aside, gesturing into his humble abode, which is still quite sparsely decorated. though he now has a simple glass pour over coffee maker and old fashioned bean grinder sitting on top of his dresser]
Haha, that's right. I've got a Three of Spades. [And so Edamura is a Three of Clubs, then. Good to know, though it's not like Natori particularly cares about collecting different cards.] Sorry for intruding.
[He instinctively steps out of his shoes just inside the door, putting one hand on the dresser for support. Once he straightens up, he nods at the humble coffee accessories.] You must really like coffee, huh?
[There had been some in that house too. At the time he'd just thought it was another trapping of suburbia, but maybe it was pulled in by Edamura's subconscious the same way he'd kept finding exorcist scrolls in each of his houses.] ...Is that why she called you 'bean'?

That's— khhhh, probably not. [he knows very well why Mitsuru-chan had called him "Uncle Bean." he just refuses to share it] But I like your reasoning better, so let's go with it.
[Just checking the lay of the land here! He didn't say Edamura was a bean!!! But this is clearly another personal thing pulled in by the house, like Mitsuru's name was for him. Well, Natori doesn't want to start throwing stones, and it's probably just an affectionate nickname that reminds him of home. Edamura probably wouldn't appreciate an official exorcist lecture on how he shouldn't let his guard down when he encounters these little pinpricks-- that they are, in fact, designed to get him to let his guard down-- but at least Natori can provide some synthetic guard support.
He wiggles the small stack of talismans between his fingers to draw attention to them. They look similar to the ofuda that would be found in any shrine, except that the characters written on them (in extremely nice calligraphy) are gibberish.]
Well, in any case. I'll put these up around your room. They should stop most low-level ayakashi from getting in, so you don't have to worry about anything coming up from the maintenance floors. Just leave them where I put them, okay? If you want to hang up pictures or something, give me a call so I can shift them.

That sounds good to me, though. I won't touch them while they're in place. [easiest instructions in the world to follow] . . . do you have any hung up in your room?
[You'd think they'd be easy instructions to follow, but he's had to clean up one too many headaches caused by someone moving one of his wards!! With a practiced eye, Natori starts placing the talismans, tacking one to the wall and then scanning the faint lines of protection he could see emerging from it to the next key point. He laughs good-naturedly.]

[The Natori clan being out of business before he took over, and all that.] --Well, barring when the hotel drags us somewhere else. These aren't going to be able to stop that, they're just to stop the small fries from wandering around.
[the kettle lid snaps shut, and Edamura reaches for a bag of coffee beans next. some simple Brazilian Santos for a simple, smooth cup! though. . . he pauses in the middle of pouring them into his grinder, allowing a beat of silence to stretch between them as he considers Natori's warning]
. . . they aren't going to stop the suits either, are they?
[a dumb question. he already knows the answer. if Natori knew how to stop the suits from preying upon them, he likely would have done it months ago. and yet. . .]
[Edamura still lowers a hand to his hip, where the (now dormant) Clubs mars his skin]
