That's my specialty, [ Alan says with an ironic smile. ] Making magical things "interesting." I'd offer to chase it around to see what else happens, but we're in public.
[Natori raises his eyebrows at Alan, exaggerated enough to be clear that he's putting it on.]
Maybe I should mention-- there's one place on my body that this lizard has never gone. I don't know what I'll do if you chase it over there. Do you want to guess where it is?
I have a pretty good idea, actually. [To bear his children, for one. But he digresses.] It's true, you know. It's never once gone on my left leg in all these years.
The whole leg. [He mimics the gesture, though he keeps going past the knee to flick his hand towards his left foot as well.] I've never spotted it past the hip. It'll go on the right leg without any hesitation. Creepy, right?
You're joking, but that's not as impossible as you might think it is. [He takes a sip of his coffee before realizing he needs to add:] Not for me specifically, but I've heard rumors about something like that happening... though of course, in those cases the limb itself is the ayakashi.
[ Despite the fact that this is a pretty clear conclusion to reach, it startles Alan a little to hear it aloud. Blinking, he lifts a hand and rubs the back of his neck. As ever, though, the suit there is intangible under his fingers, just another patch of skin. ]
Right. Well. I suppose I have.
Not sure whether I should be more annoyed or grateful that it doesn't seem affected by the perturbation. Could be quite awful for it to behave unpredictably.
[Back of the neck, huh... As annoying as his own suit's location is, at least it's not in full view. Spotting someone else's suit mark feels like sneaking a peek at something private, some unwanted insight into the other person's personality for whatever the suit saw in them.]
Ah, so it's not affected? That's probably for the best, as annoying as it may be. Better not to give the house a reason to try harder to influence you.

Why, do you think you'd get much mileage out of it? That it's never gone on my left leg?

You never know what the fans are after.

Again, I beg your pardon if this is too personal, but if you've got one mystery ayakashi attached to you, are you sure you haven't two?
no subject
I do have two. You have one, too. Whichever suit claimed you.
